Jinn Catching / Using Assistance of Jinn
In our communities today, there exists a dangerous misconception that some individuals—claiming to be practicing Ruqyah—are working with so-called "Muslim jinn" to resolve spiritual cases. These individuals argue that the jinn assisting them are righteous believers aiding in acts of goodness. However, this claim is deeply flawed, both theologically and practically. Such practices not only contradict Islamic principles but also lead to shirk (associating partners with Allah), a sin that Allah warns against repeatedly in the Qur'an.
Islamic teachings make it clear that the jinn, like humans, have their own responsibilities and obligations under the Shariah. Jinn, whether Muslim or non-Muslim, are not permitted to interfere in human affairs, especially in spiritual matters. A truly righteous Muslim jinn would adhere to the commandments of Allah and avoid engaging in any actions that might lead humans astray.
When someone claims to work with "Muslim jinn," they are either deceived by the jinn or deliberately misleading others. Jinn who claim to be Muslim while assisting humans are, in reality, among the evil Shayateen (devils). They use deception to lure humans into shirk by making them dependent on their help, thereby violating the core tenet of Tawheed (the oneness of Allah).
Turning to jinn for assistance, whether to fulfill one’s desires, cause harm, or bring about benefit, constitutes shirk—associating others in worship with Allah. This is because such an act involves a form of mutual benefit between the human and the jinn. The jinn fulfills the human’s requests and needs in exchange for the human’s veneration, reliance, and turning to the jinn for help.
By doing so, the individual places their trust in a creation rather than the Creator, violating the fundamental principle of Tawheed (the Oneness of Allah). Allah explicitly warns against this in the Qur'an:
"And there were men from mankind who sought refuge in men from the jinn, so they [only] increased them in burden."
(Surah Al-Jinn, 72:6)
This verse highlights the destructive consequences of such interactions, as they lead to further misguidance and reliance on the jinn, rather than Allah.
Allah also says (interpretation of the meanings):
“And on the Day when He will gather them (all) together (and say): ‘O you assembly of jinn! Many did you mislead of men,’ and their awliya (friends and helpers) amongst men will say: ‘Our Lord! We benefited one from the other, but now we have reached our appointed term which You did appoint for us.’ He will say: ‘The Fire be your dwelling place, you will dwell therein forever, except as Allah may will. Certainly your Lord is All-Wise, All-Knowing.’
And thus We do make the Zaalimun (polytheists and wrongdoers) awliya (supporters and helpers) of one another (in committing crimes), because of that which they used to earn.” [6:128]
Relying on anyone other than Allah, especially for matters that involve unseen powers, is a dangerous deviation from the straight path. Seeking help from the jinn shifts one’s worship and reliance away from Allah, which is the essence of shirk.
If a person seeks the help of a jinn to harm others or to protect themselves from someone they fear, this act constitutes shirk (associating partners with Allah). Such behavior nullifies a person's prayer and fasting because Allah has said (interpretation of the meaning):
"If you join others in worship with Allah, (then) surely, (all) your deeds will be in vain, and you will certainly be among the losers.”
(Surah Az-Zumar, 39:65)
If someone is known to persist in such practices without repentance, it is not permissible to perform the funeral prayer for them, attend their funeral, or bury them in a Muslim graveyard, as these actions demonstrate a clear departure from the fold of Islam.
At Humility Ruqyah, we firmly reject any form of jinn interaction, including seeking their assistance or engaging in practices such as "jinn catching." Our approach is rooted solely in reliance on Allah through Qur’anic recitation, authentic du'aa, and adherence to the prophetic methodology.
May Allah protect us from all forms of shirk and guide us to place our full trust in Him alone.
